![]() HEX color code is a way of identifying colors using hexadecimal values. There are six digits in a hex code which starts with a hash symbol (#). A secondary color is formed by the sum of two primary colors of equal intensity: cyan is green+blue, magenta is blue+red, and yellow is red+green.HEX or hexadecimal colors are widely used by developers and designers in web designing. When one of the components has the strongest intensity, the color is a hue near this primary color (red-ish, green-ish, or blue-ish), and when two components have the same strongest intensity, then the color is a hue of a secondary color (a shade of cyan, magenta or yellow). When the intensities are different, the result is a colorized hue, more or less saturated depending on the difference of the strongest and weakest of the intensities of the primary colors employed. When the intensities for all the components are the same, the result is a shade of gray, darker or lighter depending on the intensity. Zero intensity for each component gives the darkest color (no light, considered the black), and full intensity of each gives a white the quality of this white depends on the nature of the primary light sources, but if they are properly balanced, the result is a neutral white matching the system's white point. Because of properties, these three colors create white, this is in stark contrast to physical colors, such as dyes which create black when mixed. This is essentially opposite to the subtractive color model, particularly the CMY color model, that applies to paints, inks, dyes, and other substances whose color depends on reflecting the light under which we see them. The RGB color model is additive in the sense that the three light beams are added together, and their light spectra add, wavelength for wavelength, to make the final color's spectrum. Each of the three beams is called a component of that color, and each of them can have an arbitrary intensity, from fully off to fully on, in the mixture. To form a color with RGB, three light beams (one red, one green, and one blue) must be superimposed (for example by emission from a black screen or by reflection from a white screen). This article discusses concepts common to all the different color spaces that use the RGB color model, which are used in one implementation or another in color image-producing technology. Color printers, on the other hand are not RGB devices, but subtractive color devices (typically using CMYK color model). Typical RGB output devices are TV sets of various technologies (CRT, LCD, plasma, OLED, quantum dots, etc.), computer and mobile phone displays, video projectors, multicolor LED displays and large screens such as Jumbotron. Typical RGB input devices are color TV and video cameras, image scanners, and digital cameras. Thus an RGB value does not define the same color across devices without some kind of color management. RGB is a device-dependent color model: different devices detect or reproduce a given RGB value differently, since the color elements (such as phosphors or dyes) and their response to the individual R, G, and B levels vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, or even in the same device over time. Before the electronic age, the RGB color model already had a solid theory behind it, based in human perception of colors. ![]() The main purpose of the RGB color model is for the sensing, representation, and display of images in electronic systems, such as televisions and computers, though it has also been used in conventional photography. The name of the model comes from the initials of the three additive primary colors, red, green, and blue. The RGB color model is an additive color model in which red, green, and blue light are added together in various ways to reproduce a broad array of colors. RGB = (R*65536)+(G*256)+B, (when R is RED, G is GREEN and B is BLUE) Calculation examples White RGB Color RGB code has 24 bits format (bits 0.23): RED When the red pixel is set to 255, the LED is turned fully on.Īny value between them sets the LED to partial light emission. When the red pixel is set to 0, the LED is turned off. ![]() This makes 256*256*256=16777216 possible colors.Įach pixel in the LED monitor displays colors this way, by combination of red, green and blue LEDs (light emitting diodes). The red, green and blue use 8 bits each, which have integer values from 0 to 255. Start at the upper left dot and follow the arrows. Below is the “typical correct” answer on how to do it: I responded by listening and saying nothing :-).Ī few other people had done the puzzle before and knew how to solve it. The rules just said I had to connect all the dots with 4 straight lines and not retrace any lines.Īfter thinking about it, the instructor said she had never seen anyone do it that way but it did follow the directions and my solution was correct. But the instructions didn’t say I couldn’t draw a curved line and I didn’t take my pencil off the paper after drawing straight line #3. Two people said it was wrong because it had a curved line in it. The Line along the bottom going left was line #3 and I just kept the pencil on the paper and made a curve to straight line #4, the one across the middle. The one going down the right side was line #2. So I put my pencil and paper away and asked my co-puzzle solvers if I was correct. I finally came up with a solution that technically followed the directions, but I wasn’t sure if it was correct. The task was to connect all 9 dots using 4 straight lines without ever picking up the pencil or retracing any of the lines.Īfter a few minutes, I began drawing a series of 4 straight lines to connect all the dots without lifting my pencil and without retracing any of the lines.Īll of my attempts kept leaving out one dot, so I stopped for a few minutes to consider other possible options. Do you like doing puzzles? I was assigned one as part of a mindfulness class to help us lower stress by thinking “outside of the box.” It was three rows of three dots on top of each other. ![]() ![]() FireEye's researchers were able to definitively trace the group to North Korea in part due to an embarrassing slip-up. If anything about APT37 is less than professional, it may be the group's own operational security. But they’re showing all the signs of a maturing asset that’s commanded by the North Korean regime and can be turned to any purpose it wants." "This operator has continued to operate in a cloud of obscurity, mostly because they’ve stayed regional. "We believe this is the next team to watch," says John Hultquist, FireEye's director of intelligence analysis. ![]() It has used a broad range of penetration techniques, and has planted custom-coded malware on victims' computers capable of everything from eavesdropping via an infected PC's microphone to Sony-style data-wiping attacks. But FireEye says APT37 isn't necessarily any less skillful or well-resourced. The company notes that the hackers have, for the most part, remained focused on South Korea targets, which has allowed the team to keep a far lower profile than Lazarus. Tuesday, security firm FireEye released a new report describing a group of sophisticated state-sponsored hackers it calls APT37-also known by the names ScarCruft and Group123-that it has followed for the last three years, tracing the operation to North Korea. Now, security researchers have detailed the capabilities of a far more obscure North Korean group, with its own distinct and diverse hacking arsenal. It has pulled off audacious attacks around the globe, from leaking and destroying Sony Pictures' data to siphoning of tens of millions of dollars from banks in Poland and Bangladesh. North Korea's most prolific hacking group, broadly known within the security community under the name Lazarus, has over the last half-decade proven itself one of the world's most internationally aggressive teams of intruders. ![]()

![]() It's Miller Time: A Tribute to a Forgotten Novelty.Modern Misuse of An Old Fashioned Word: Gentleman. ![]() The Moonbeam sells for $39.50 through LL Bean and is available in 5 soft retro colors (classic yellow, pale green, blue, dove gray, and vanilla.) A great gift for any retro fan! The tower was designed by Augustus Pugin in a neo-Gothic style. The ticking mechanism is very soft and barely audible. The official name of the tower in which Big Ben is located was originally the Clock Tower, but it was renamed Elizabeth Tower in 2012 to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II. The clock also has a gently glowing backlight for the dial face that can be switched on and off to easily read the time in the dark, and a snooze button that buys you a few more minutes of sleep. So far the light has not succeeded alone in nudging me awake, but perhaps that will change in the winter when early mornings are quite dark. There are three options for the alarm: the clock has a large, slightly florescent blinking light that flashes on and off (supposedly to gently wake your body up), a straight-on audible alarm (which is quite loud and sounds like the bell on old alarm clocks), or you can opt for a combination of the two where the light starts blinking 5 minutes before the alarm goes off. It's electric, which may be bothersome for some people, but it also runs on two AA batteries - and should you lose power, the batteries automatically take over so you won't miss your wake-up call. For starters, the style is quintessential mid-century modern and beautiful to look at - the clock looks like it belongs on Don and Betty Draper's or Pete and Trudy Campbell's nightstand (as you can see, it looks perfect with my retro styled lamp and night table.) It's also large by today's standards for alarm clocks: 6 1/2" wide by 5 1/2" high. The writer in me noticed some grammatical mistakes and inconsistencies in the vintage copy however, the retro fan in me loves this clock. Now what could be more considerate than that?" But if you ignore the light and do not shut off the light with in a few minutes, Moon Beam adds to the light a cheerful audible alarm. Yes, Moon Beam's first call is silent - A blinking light that will not even disturb the rest of the family. The original ad copy reads as follows: "Are you the early morning hard of hearing type? Or just one more poor sleepy head, resigned to being roused, but wishing it could be done ever so gently? Then harken to the wondrous working of moon beam! for this completely different kind of electric alarm calls you silently. I'm not sure who the original company was, but it says Big Ben on the box and Westclox on the bottom of the actual clock. The moonbeam is a reproduction of a clock that was first manufactured in 1952. ![]() (It may be hard to tell from the photos, but it really is a cheerful yellow color.) I ordered one in green for my mother for Mother's Day and a yellow one for myself, and I'm so impressed with this retro clock that I had to let everyone know about it. You see, I never thought it was possible to fall in love with an alarm clock, but that's exactly what happened when the Moonbeam arrived at my house last week from LL Bean. It's time for a different type of post: a product review. ![]() It is up to the discretion of the writer to either place the citation at the bottom of the page where the superscript is placed (a footnote) or to place all citations together at the end of the work (endnotes). The matching number in the footnote or endnote is normal sized and not raised.A footnote or endnote contains the complete citation information.Endnotes are added at the end of the chapter or project.Footnotes are found at the bottom of the page. That number correlates with a footnote or endnote.
